Grammar Section: Adjectives and Adverbs

Reading Section: Elements of Short Story "Before the End of Summer"
    • Working in groups of 3 to 4, complete an Elements of Short Story chart for "Before the End of Summer"
      • Take this work seriously: questions about "Before the End of Summer" and the Elements of Short Story will be on our quiz this Friday.
      • Last week's quiz was worth 10 points, this one will be worth 25 points.
      • This means that if you learn more about the Elements of Short Story, you can raise your grade significantly by doing better on this week's quiz than you did on last week's quiz.

Reading Section: Dialectical Journal "Before the End of Summer"

Speaking Section: Sharing Quick Writes
    • Review your response to the Terrorism Quick Write from yesterday.
    • Turn to the person next to you and explain why you agree/disagree with the idea that the United States should invest in racial profiling in order to catch potential terrorist or prevent potential terrorist attacks.

Reading Section: 3rd reading of "Five Myths about Terrorists"
    • Review how to Chart a text.
    • In pairs, students re-read the article and chart each paragraph.
      • Use the list of verbs you copied yesterday.
      • Each student will have his/her own chart.
